Four New Governor Proclamations-42 States Recognize Intergeneration Day!

Arkansas Becomes Number 39!
Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe signed a Proclamation for "Intergeneration Day In Arkansas", making Arkansas the 39th state to issue a proclamation recognizing Intergeneration Day. We would like to thank our Arkansas Co-Sponsors who made this possible: Susan Keuhner with Arkansas AARP (www.aarp.org) and Dee Ann Newell with Arkansas Voices (www.arkansasvoices.org) who graciously stepped up as co sponsors for Intergeneration Foundation. Thanks to their support, we are one state closer to having all 50 states recognize Intergeneration Day.

Additionally, Dee Ann Newell reports that Arkansas Voices will hold an Intergeneration Day event at the State Capitol, having a representative from the Governor's office read the Proclamation at that time.

Nevada Becomes The 40th State To Proclaim Intergeneration Day!
Governor Jim Gibbons of Nevada signed a Proclamation declaring October 3, 2010 as a, "day in honor of Intergeneration Day." Recognizing, "Intergeneration Day and Week bring together people of all ages to intentionally reach out to each other, to improve communication and participate in celebrations and expand education." The State of Nevada has become the 40th state to recognize Intergeneration Day through a Proclamation. We are grateful for the significant efforts of Nevada residents in supporting the effort and making this possible.

Pennsylvania Proclaims October 3, 2010 Intergeneration Day
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvannia has proclaimed October 3, 2010 as Intergeneration Day, starting Intergeneration Week. Governor Edward Rendell, in proclaiming Intergeneration Day wrote, "I encourage Pennsylvanians to take this opportunity to reach across generations to learn, to teach and support each other." Pennsylvania becomes the 41st state to issue a Proclamation acknowledging Intergeneration Day. Intergeneration Foundation thanks Pennsylvania Seniors4Kids and its State Coordinator, Yvonne Thompson-Friend, for its in-state co-sponsorship, making the proclamation a reality.

INTERGENERATION DAY OFFICIALLY PROCLAIMED IN TENNESSEE
Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen issued a Proclamation observing October 3, 2010 as “Intergeneration Day” in the State of Tennessee, encouraging all citizens to join “in this worthy observance.” Our thanks go out to the Governor and citizens of Tennessee, and particularly to our Tennessee co-sponsor, the Southeast Tennessee Area Agency on Aging and Disability (www.setaaad.org). AAAD, through the efforts of Elizabeth Wood, LMSW, Relative Caregiver Program Coordinator with Hamilton County and Southeast Region of AAAD, made this honor possible.
