Intergeneration Day
Around the World
Intergeneration Days are springing up, from Africa to New
Zealand. Organizations around the world are promoting
intergeneration programs because of the benifits to individuals of all
ages as well as the larger community. We would love to hear from
more of you all. Let us know what you are planning and we will share
it with the world.
Here are two programs we are excited to hear about and share with you:
Halley
Movement is a non governmental organization that works to promote
child and family welfare in Mauritius and in the Indian Ocean regions.
Halley Movement organized a series of workshops across the island and one
workshop in Rodrigues Island for community leaders. To learn more about
the different intergenerational workshops click the above link.
The Community Development Coordinator of the Kapit Coast District Council, Paraparaumu New Zealand, is planning an Intergeneration week celebration culminating
in Dance through the Ages to connect the generations. Demonstrating
what the music was like, what the clothes looked like, the type of dances
performed, how dance was one way of people getting together throughout the
ages and having fun.
We look forward to hear more intergeneration news from around the
world.
