Welcome to Our Intergeneration Celebration!
The Mission of Intergeneration Day, celebrated worldwide the first Sunday in October,  is to connect generations through communication, celebration, and education. Creating an age-integrated community leads to a healthy community, where the strengths of one generation meet the needs of another. All generations grow in an appreciation for cultural heritages, traditions, histories and values.

Intergeneration Day starts Intergeneration Week. Intergeneration Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of October, but any day can be Intergeneration Day Start planning now for Intergeneration Day, Sunday, October 3, 2010.

FLASH: American Library Association passed a resolution to support the goals of “Intergeneration Day Means Libraries.” In so doing, the ALA supports and promotes Intergeneration Day, recognizing the role libraries play in bringing together generations and communities in the library environment used by people of every age in increasing numbers. Additionally, more than thirty other Library Associations, have joined in promoting and celebrating Intergeneration Day, the first Sunday in October.

Libraries are a cornerstone of our democracy.  Children, teens, and adults of every age are using their local libraries in increasing numbers, not only to enjoy the printed page, but to utilize information technologies, listen to stories, explore new technologies, learn a new craft, and volunteer.  Any day, any week, any month can and should be about connecting generations, and libraries do this every day.

FLASH: Palisades at Broadmoor Park received an Intergeneration Day Means Business Award. Jeff Dunn and Associates, in collaboration with Dr. Sara Qualls, has created a unique environment for seniors integrating the latest research with doctoral gerontology  students.
